ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
For the past decade I've been working as an accidental Russian cinematographer. It turns out that life is a journey one knows not where it will lead.
As a youth, I never imagined visiting the Soviet Union, but it seemed to me like a parallel universe. A contrary world. They had cars, airplanes, buildings, but different. And big brother was always watching. One turned up the radio and spoke in hushed tones.
Now, the former USSR is open and normal, but always with hints from the bygone era.
The photographs here reflect my impressions with a little contrast to my own mother land.
ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Bruce Alan Greene, a native of Newton Massachusetts and graduate of the American Film Institute conservatory, has been working in Hollywood for over 30 years as a specialist in narrative cinema.
His Steadicam and camera operating work has appeared in feature films as varied as "The Mask", "Mortal Kombat", "Star Trek VI", "The Man without a Face", "Confidence", "Path to War", "Starship Troopers", and Francis Coppola's “Dracula”.
Bruce is now working as a Director of Photography and quite by accident, specializing in feature films for the Russian market. His credits include “Close Enemy”, “8 First Dates”, “Love in the Big City 3”, and, the most recent hit comedy, “Me, You, He, She”. All these films have played at a theater near you … if you lived in Russia, Ukraine, or Kazakhstan:)
ABOUT THE GALLERY
The Perfect Exposure Gallery is the recognized venue in Southern California to display the work of award winning and accomplished photojournalists as well as works of photographers that regard artistry and craftsmanship as a standard of excellence. The mission of the Perfect Exposure Gallery is to present exhibits free of charge to the general public with the following goals to exemplify the rich variety and impact of photography, freedom of expression, a forum for the aesthetic, the contemptible and the sublime.
